Legal and Regulatory Notices

I carry out legal work as permitted by the Legal Services Act 2007 (“the Act”).

DR Law is not a firm of solicitors or an Alternative Business Structure.  Neither it nor I are authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.  I am not entitled to carry out any "reserved legal activity" within the meaning attributed to that expression by section 12 of the Act, or to give financial advice.  I am not a solicitor.

Under the Act, I am entitled to provide legal advice and to provide assistance with most steps in connection with the conduct of family law cases.    However, I am not entitled to “the exercise of a right of audience” or to undertake “the conduct of litigation”.

Under paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 of the Act, a “right of audience” means the right to appear before and address a court, including the right to call and examine witnesses.

Under paragraph 4 of Schedule 2 of the Act, the “conduct of litigation” means:

“(a)        the issuing of proceedings before any court in England and Wales,

“(b)        the commencement, prosecution and defence of such proceedings, and

“(c)         the performance of any ancillary functions in relation to such proceedings (such as entering appearances to actions).”

The quotations appearing on this website are from various editions of the publications identified and concern me whilst I was practising as a solicitor.

The trading name "DR Law" is not intended to denote or represent that I hold a doctorate, or am otherwise entitled to use the honorific title "Doctor".
