Over my many years of experience as a family lawyer, I’ve learned this is true.  Whatever situation you are facing, it is unique to you.  It’s unique to your family.  No other case will have been quite the same.  However, my extensive experience means I have almost certainly helped a similar family to yours deal with similar issues.  I can offer you the benefit of that expertise and help you navigate your way to the best possible conclusion.

What I do

I have worked as a family law specialist for over twenty years.  I have handled over a thousand cases.  I have successfully managed almost every conceivable type of family law application.  These have ranged from drafting uncomplicated financial remedy and child arrangements orders all the way through to hugely complicated international  matters.

When working as a solicitor, I was considered one of the country’s leading experts in international family disputes.  This means I can help in complex situations involving other countries, such as forum disputes and international child abduction cases.  I can provide you with a calibre of legal help surpassing the expertise of many solicitors who claim to be experts in this type of work.

I have worked in all courts and tribunals dealing with family cases, up to and including the Supreme Court (House of Lords).

I help in the full range of family law situations, and at all stages:  from initial advice prior to the issue of proceedings all the way through to contested final hearings.  I assist those dealing with issues concerning the welfare and upbringing of their children, as well as people involved in disputes about financial issues following the end of their relationship.

Maybe you already have a barrister involved in your case, under the Bar Council’s Public Access Scheme.  In these cases, I work alongside you and the barrister, making sure your case is properly prepared and providing guidance on tactics and procedure.

I can also assist if you have not yet decided on what type of representation best meets your needs.  I will give you an honest assessment about whether your case would benefit from involving a barrister, a solicitor or both.  I have excellent contacts with some of the leading practitioners in the industry, and am happy to provide onward recommendations.  Similarly, if your case would benefit from mediation or some other form of out-of-court resolution, I can point you in the right direction and make the necessary introductions.

For those acting in person, I provide advice and assistance at hearings, both in and out of court (often referred to as a "McKenzie Friend").

Just some of the work I can help with includes:

  • drafting witness statements, applications, skeleton arguments and other documents for court proceedings

  • compilation of documents for Forms E, replies to questionnaires and similar

  • providing guidance on offer letters and other important correspondence

  • offering advice on the legal framework, the procedural rules and the most likely outcome in your case

  • helping you identify your strongest points and arguments, and how you can best present those

I am happy to provide references from individuals I am currently helping, or those whose cases have been successfully concluded.
